Temple Beth Emeth Albany NY

Chavurah

What is a Chavurah?
A Chavurah is a small group of up to 20 Beth Emeth congregants who join together to socialize and study, observe holidays together - whatever the group decides for itself. The Chavurot do not replace other events at Beth Emeth; on the contrary, they supplement and support the Temple's social, religious and intellectual activities. When, where and how often a Chavurah meets, is totally up to the members of that particular Chavurah.

Where did Chavurot originate?
The Chavurah movement began in Reform Temples across the USA during the early 1970's as a way of forming and cementing friendships within congregations. It represents an opportunity for more intimate personal involvement and spiritual growth within the context of a strong Jewish environment.

How do I learn more and/or join a Chavurah?
